چکیده

Lichens are symbiotic organisms that have been traditionally used for treating different kinds of ailments. Heterodermia boryi is a common foliose lichen found growing luxuriantly in the Western Ghats. It clear from literature survey there no reports on isolation and biological activity substances boryi, we thought exploring anticancer its crude extract isolated compounds. Fractionation methanolic by column chromatography led to three pure The compounds were screened vitro cytotoxic against human cancer cell lines such as breast (MCF-7), lung (H1975), colon (HCT-116). Isolated with highest further evaluated their ability induce apoptosis dual staining method MCF-7 line. Molecular docking studies carried out study interact Mitogen-activated protein kinases- 2 (Mnk2). characterized methyl haematommate (HKB-1), atraric acid (HKB-4), zeorin (HKB-6) spectral methods. Among compounds, HKB-1 HKB-6 exhibited superior IC50 values 11.1 µg/ml 17.02 respectively. Dual cells treated at 10 displayed early signs apoptosis. revealed excellent binding affinity interaction site residues Mnk2 comparable co-crystallized ligand staurosporine indicative possible role inhibitors.

Anticancer Activity of Nanoparticles Based on PLGA and its Co-polymer: In-vitro Evaluation

Attempts have been made to prepare nanoparticles based on poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and doxorubicin. Biological evaluation and physio-chemical characterizations were performed to elucidate the effects of initial drug loading and polymer composition on nanoparticle properties and its antitumor activity. PLGA nanoparticles were formulated by sonication method. Lactide/glycolide ratio ...

Biological activities of secondary lichen metabolites

Lichens produce a great variety of secondary metabolites and most of them are unique. These chemically diverse lichen substances accumulate on the outer surfaces of the hyphae. They have several biological activities, including photoprotection against intense radiation, as well as allelochemical, antiviral, antitumor, antibacterial, antiherbivore, antioxidant, antipyretic, and analgesic action....
